Gas discoveries in tight formations on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) present significant development challenges. The seven largest tight gas discoveries in unlicensed areas together contain more than 500 GSm³ of estimated gas resources. Gro is one of these discoveries, located in the Vøring Basin approximately 160 km southeast of the Aasta Hansteen field. The reservoir comprises distal turbidites of the Springer Formation and is encountered at a depth of around 3,600 m TVD in a water depth of approximately 1,350 m.

An integrated static evaluation of the Gro discovery has been conducted by Terra Stream Energy on behalf of the Norwegian Offshore Directorate (NOD). The study includes geological interpretation, petrophysical analysis, and volumetric assessment, with the objective of defining the in‑place gas potential and identifying key uncertainty drivers. This work resulted in a suite of five deterministic geomodels representing the uncertainty range. Estimated in‑place gas volumes span from 16 to 160 GSm³, with a Best Technical Estimate (BTE) of 52 GSm³.

At this lunch‑and‑learn session, we will present the results of the study and discuss the key findings. Following the presentation, the geomodels and the full report will be made available to industry for further evaluation of this significant gas discovery.
