13/01/2023 The Resource Management Regulations and Regulations relating to documentation in connection with storing CO2 on the shelf have been changed.

Regulation No. 2004 of 13 December 2017 relating to resource management in the petroleum activities (the Resource Management Regulations) and Regulation No. 2003 of 13 December 2017 relating to materials and documentation in connection with surveys for and utilisation of subsea reservoirs on the continental shelf to store CO2 (Regulations relating to documentation in connection with storing CO2 on the shelf) have been amended, and the amendments enter into force on 1 January 2023.

The purpose of the changes was to adapt the regulations to current practices and routines, make necessary language adjustments, as well as to simplify and clarify. Certain material changes were also made. The most important changes can be found in the consultation memo/drafts.

The regulations were put forward for public consultation with a deadline of 11 November 2022. The input led to changes in Sections 4 and 8a of the Resource Management Regulations and Sections 2, 4 and 8a of the Regulations relating to documentation in connection with storing CO2 on the continental shelf. A few changes will also be made in the guidelines for the respective regulations.

The guidelines for the regulations will be updated in January.
