Wells

MBMultimedia-130304-473-1920

The companies operating on the Norwegian shelf collect large volumes of well data. The Norwegian Offshore Directorate shares and facilitates the information for further use.

Well data comprises non-interpreted data (raw data) and interpreted data, cf. Section 85 of the Regulations relating to the Petroleum Act. Guidelines for interpreted data have been prepared with the intent of defining what kinds of data are interpreted data.

Non-interpreted data are normally available two years after the well is completed. The exception is wells in relinquished areas or from surrendered production licences, where the information is released at the time of relinquishment or surrender.

Well data that has been interpreted or processed by anyone other than the Norwegian Offshore Directorate will be released five years after the data was analysed. Interpreted data from wells in relinquished areas or from surrendered production licences will be released one year after the time of relinquishment or surrender.

FactPages

The FactPages include an overview of exploration, production and other wellbores on the Norwegian shelf. Key attributes have been published and can be downloaded for most wellbores. As regards exploration wellbores more than two years old, there is additional basic data; Well Data Summary Sheets (WDSS).

It's easy to export exploration, production and other wellbores from the FactPages with associated attributes.

Diskos – national database

The national data repository for exploration and production-related information from the Norwegian shelf is called Diskos (in English).

Reporting requirements for digital well data, 'the Blue Book' (English only), shows which data types are reported for newer wells, and when they are released. Not all data types will be available for all wells.
