12/3/2024 The “Løvmeis” prospect in the Norwegian Sea, drilled by Equinor, has proven to be dry.

Wildcat well 6608/10-R-2 H is located in production licence 1013, where Equinor Energy AS is the operator and Orlen Upstream and Petrolia Noco are partners.

This well, which was drilled by the Transocean Encourage rig about 15 kilometres northeast of the Norne field, is the first in production licence 1013, which was awarded in the Awards in Predefined Areas (APA) in 2018.

Geological information

The objective of the well was to prove petroleum in Middle Jurassic reservoir rocks in the Ile and Tofte formations.

Wildcat well 6608/10-R-2 H was drilled 30 metres into the Ile Formation and encountered sandstone with good reservoir quality. The well is classified as dry.

Well 6608/10-R-2 H was drilled to vertical and measured depths of respective 2346 metres and 3812 metres below sea level and was terminated in the Ile Formation in the Middle Jurassic.

Water depth at the site is 358 metres. The well has been permanently plugged and abandoned.
