Technology Day 2026

Here you can find the programme for Technology Day 2026.

08:30 Registration and coffee/tea

09:00 Welcome/introduction

Ove Hundseid, Norwegian Offshore Directorate

09:10 Keynote: How Aker BP fosters an environment that enables innovation and implementation of new technology

Michelle Williams, Aker BP.

Subsurface data acquistion:

09:30 Improved reservoir Interpretation and drilling results using OBN data at the Balder and Ringhorne fields

Manuel Gelhaus, Vår Energi

High-quality OBN data at Balder substantially enhanced subsurface understanding, enabling improved well placement and project reframing. This led to reduced CAPEX and significantly increased value, demonstrating the benefits of acquiring OBN even in a mature field.

09:55 First view of the Ekofisk structure

Marit Hatlestad, ConocoPhillips

After five decades of production, new seismic technology reveals the Ekofisk structure beneath the gas cloud for the first time.

10:20 Casing collapse capacity – The art of keeping wells alive

Arve Bjørset, Equinor

The traditional API standard for tubing and casing design has been challenged. This has improved design conditions, such as allowable external pressure levels, implying extended well lifetime. A potential outcome is a significant increase in production and value creation.

10:45 Lunch

Next generation production systems:

11:45 The world’s first subsea separator is still performing

Vincent Kretz, Equinor

From pioneering subsea separation in 2007 to modern boosting in 2021, Tordis and Vigdis fields show how technology and smart operations sustain competitive production and higher recovery – year after year.

12:10 Hydrate management by anti-agglomerant qualification field trials in the Vega field

Stephan Tobias Hatscher, Harbour

The use of anti-agglomerant chemical products as a gas hydrate management method may enable alternative flow assurance philosophies for mature or marginal fields.

12:35 Development and deployment of subsea compression on Ormen Lange

Andrew Stroud, Shell

Unlocking sustainable value through the deployment of subsea compression technology at Ormen Lange. Last year, Norske Shell successfully started up the world’s longest subsea-to-shore compression system.

13:00 Break

Challenging barrels:

13:20 Cost effective water injection – Hanz dump flood

Kåre Langaas, Aker BP

Two pilot projects on the Alvheim and Hanz fields using crossflow-based water injection have been executed, and the concept is now being evaluated as a cost-effective water injection system for application in new developments.

13:45 Early phase development of tight/HPHT reservoirs

Samuel Langhammer Kvernes, Aker BP

Significant oil and gas resources are present in tight and HPHT (high pressure/high temperature) reservoirs on the NCS. This presentation will highlight the key enablers and barriers to unlocking their development, with examples from our portfolio and a particular focus on the Victoria discovery.

14:10 Single trip multifrac operations on a subsea template on the NCS

Alexander Letichevskii, Equinor

An innovative approach to hydraulic fracturing and stimulation technology can deliver meaningful advances in subsea operations.

14:35 Summary and conclusion

Hege Susanne Blåsternes, Norwegian Offshore Directorate
