The Shelf in 2022

Mark your calendars for the morning of 9 January, when Acting Director General Torgeir Stordal will be wrapping up the past year on the Norwegian shelf, and briefly addressing the years to come.

In previous years, we've given the annual Shelf presentation at an event in our offices, with live-streaming; the next one will be fully digital in a slightly different format. But you will still get the "stocktaking", the analyses and forecasts.

2022 has been a year marred by the war in Ukraine and the energy crisis in Norway and Europe. The Norwegian shelf has seen a high level of activity – the keywords are many projects, high production, increased gas extraction to meet demand from the EU and more pressure on new sectors such as offshore wind and carbon capture and storage.

The Government has also initiated an opening process for exploration for and extraction of seabed minerals.

Listen and watch more about what's happening on 9 January at 10:00. You can follow the presentation at npd.no, where you can also find the press release, presentation and underlying figures.
