Full house to hear about new technology on the NCS

teknologidagen-2025

6/6/2025 Technology is one of the tools that can help generate additional values from the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS). At Technology Day new technology from different suppliers are presented.

Those were the words of Arvid Østhus, head of the programme committee for Technology Day. This seminar is an important annual event for the Norwegian Offshore Directorate.

"This is the kind of event we hope can inspire the companies. There’s a lot of enthusiasm. We've received many interesting questions and reflections around the topics presented."

We had a full house at this year's seminar on 5 June – and even a waiting list.

Important for developing the NCS

The Norwegian Offshore Directorate aims to stimulate the industry to develop, cooperate more closely and adopt new technology to an even greater extent.

The goal is for technology to permeate all parts of the value chain. This will result in good resource management and the greatest possible value creation.

The Directorate's own technology strategy forms the basis for the agenda at Technology Day.

The strategy consists of the following primary themes:

  • Acquisition of subsurface data
  • Challenging barrels
  • Next-generation production systems

A small taste of this year's agenda:

  • What are Equinor's plans for electrically controlled Xmas trees (eVXT)
  • How Okea is approaching production from fields in the tail phase
  • How Aker BP uses long horizontal wells in the exploration phase

Presentations from the seminar will be published on our website Technology - Norwegian Offshore Directorate
