Who deserves the Improved Recovery Award?

For the 21st time, companies are invited to nominate candidates for the Improved Recovery Award.

The Norwegian Offshore Directorate encourages the companies, the academic community and others to nominate innovative work for the Improved Recovery Award 2026. 

Improved recovery from the fields is more important than ever. Development of new technology is crucial for success. 

The Improved Recovery Award replaces what was previously known as the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate’s Improved Oil Recovery (IOR) Award.  Read more about previous prize winners 

We want your input

The Norwegian Offshore Directorate wants input to identify prize candidates representing mature projects that can contribute to improved recovery where:

  • new or established technology is applied in new ways
  • smarter work methods and processes are used
  • we see a willingness to take risks, daring and courage
  • outstanding research is applied
  • energy-efficient improved recovery is achieved

Use this form to submit proposed  candidates. The deadline is 1 April 2026 and the prize will be awarded during ONS (Offshore Northern Seas) in August:
