Production licences: We are transitioning to Altinn
10/13/2026 Starting on 21 October, applications and notifications on decisions associated with production licences must be submitted via Altinn. This will simplify the process for the companies.
Applications to extend deadlines and notifications on decisions associated with production licences via Altinn will require logging in via 'ID-porten' (shared log-in solution for government services).
"This new solution makes it easier for the companies to submit applications and associated documentation in a secure way. It provides better case flow and also makes the application processing more efficient," says Wenche Tjelta Johansen, Assistant Director for Licence Management.
This means that applications to extend deadlines and notifications on decisions will no longer be submitted via SMIL/Licence2Share. The submission and communication with the authorities will instead take place via Altinn.
Ensure that necessary access rights are assigned well before the transition
The change will take effect from and including 21 October 2026. To ensure a smooth transition to Altinn, operators and licensees should ensure that relevant employees have necessary access rights well before the transition.
Only users with the proper access rights in Altinn will be able to create and submit applications to extend deadlines and notifications on decisions. We therefore recommend assigning these access rights as soon as possible.

Operators and licensees must complete and submit all initiated applications to extend deadlines and notifications on decisions in SMIL/L2S before 21 October. After this date, it will no longer be possible to complete or submit cases in SMIL/L2S. Initiated cases that are not submitted by the deadline must therefore be re-created and submitted via Altinn.
